Girl assaulted at Mount Prospect Jewel

Mount Prospect police are looking for a man who assaulted a 16-year-old girl outside a grocery store on Tuesday night.

According to police, the girl was walking along Euclid Avenue at about 5:20 p.m. when a man approached her. After seeing the man, the girl took a detour through the back parking lot of the store at 333 E. Euclid Ave., but the man followed her.

"The suspect then ran up behind the victim, grabbed her left buttock with his hand, and continued through the parking lot," according to the news release. "The suspect fled the area eastbound through a break in the fence bordering the parking lot into the properties on Boxwood Drive."

The man didn't speak to the girl, according to police.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male between 20 and 30 years old, weighing about 140 pounds. He is about 5 feet 5 and wore a dark-colored, possibly green, jacket that covered his lower face up to his nose. The suspect was also wearing a black-colored knit hat and was carrying a white plastic bag.
