Vote to steer away from tax increases
Oct 27, 2010 8:33 PM
That great triumvirate of deception of Obama-Pelosi-Reid and their lemmings in Congress trumpet the dictum of "soak the rich" by promising to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the rich (those making over $250,000). Middle class, you're safe.
Third time the charm for Seals?
Oct 27, 2010 8:31 PM
On a Sunday afternoon, maybe six years ago, my husband and I heard Dan Seals lay out his plans for what he would do as a congressman for the 10th District at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library. He impressed us as serious, informed, experienced and principled.
Stop shadowy campaign donations
Oct 27, 2010 8:29 PM
The Citizens United decision by the U.S. Supreme Court gave the extremely wealthy and corporations unaccountable power to buy elections. Corporate power caused our current damaging, long-term, deep recession by buying Congress killing any controls over them. Now they are flooding our TV and Internet with slick Madison Avenue ads aimed at stopping any candidate who seeks to stand up to them. Karl Rove's American Crossroads is among the worst, so he do even worse damage than the last time.

Oct 27, 2010 8:24 PM
As a father of two small children, I am always concerned about keeping my family safe. I support Mark Kirk because I believe he will take on crime in a hard-nosed but pragmatic fashion.

However, north of Benton Avenue to Douglas Street is to be a "Special Study Area" allowing for even greater height and density, similar to the Water Street redevelopment initiative.

Oct 24, 2010 12:50 AM
Three weeks ago, 14th Congressional District candidates Bill Foster and Randy Hultgren shunned follow-up questions to their already-professed views on immigration reform. This week, the pair sat for a face-to-face interview and provided more information on where they stand regarding some of the more controversial aspects of addressing illegal immigration.
