Body of missing man found on Des Plaines River shoreline identified
The body of a man reported missing and whose body was recovered Friday evening along the shoreline of the Des Plaines River near West Oak Spring Road in Libertyville has been identified as Julian Newman, 30, of Evanston.
An autopsy Monday showed Newman’s death was consistent with drowning, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Newman’s family reported him missing Thursday night and an extensive two-day, multiagency search in the area of Lake Minear, which is just west of the river, followed.
Police and firefighters searched for the man in the river and along the shoreline between routes 137 and 176. They also used special equipment to search beneath the surface of nearby Lake Minear.
Lake County Forest Preserve Police and the coroner’s office are investigating.
