Man sent to prison for assaulting West Dundee police officer
A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison on charges he assaulted and beat a West Dundee police officer.
Tylor Z. Hyde, 28, of the 100 block of South Main Street in Sycamore, will have to serve 50% of the sentence before being eligible for parole, and received credit for 61 days he spent in the Kane County jail, according to a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Judge Julia Yetter convicted him on March 8 of four counts of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated assault of a peace officer and one count of resisting a peace officer ‒ causing injury, all felonies. She also convicted him of misdemeanor resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
She sentenced Hyde Thursday.
Prosecutors said West Dundee police officers went to an extended-stay hotel on Feb. 3, 2022, for a report of a domestic disturbance. They determined Hyde was involved. Hyde told officers he had a weapon, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Hyde swung an arm at one officer and shoved that officer in the shoulder, injuring the officer.
