Of his family's move to Westmont from Taipei almost two years ago, Joseph Liang-Fu Sun -- director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Chicago says "We love the suburban lifestyle afforded by living in the Village of Westmont -- while working during the day in metropolitan Chicago where my focus is on helping Americans know about the excellence of products manufactured in Taiwan. The Culture Center of TECO-Chicago is located in Westmont, so I am involved in cultural exchange activities, as the Center is a base for friendship, socializing activities and events. We welcome Americans to join us as we host events to promote authentic Taiwanese food, art and culture." Director Sun continues "The relationship between Taiwan and Chicago keeps growing and improving. And because of this, we are happy that beginning in November of this year, EVA Air will begin direct flights between Taipei and Chicago!! Taiwan is now America's 9th largest trading partner, with over $66.67 billion in goods traded last year. Taiwanese products excel especially in the field of high-tech, where we are a critically important partner of the US tech industry. We have a proven ability to transform creative thinking and ideas into unique, quality products." Sun is excited to be a part of bringing Taiwan Excellence to the Midwest. The traveling exhibition will expose visitors at SummerFest, "The World's Largest Music Festival," to over 68 innovative products -- each of which is the recipient of a Taiwan Excellence Award. According to Sun, the presence of Taiwan Excellence at Milwaukee's SummerFest (July 5-10) -- which expects an attendance of 850,000 - is designed to increase consumer awareness of Taiwan brands and offer visitors the opportunity to experience superior lifestyle products from Taiwan.
