    Medieval Times in Schaumburg, with help from Variety of Illinois Children's Charity, gave children with special needs a chance to train like knights Sunday. The children learned how to swing a sword, watched an actual sword fight and became honorary knights themselves. “We’d wanted to do something with Medieval Times for a long time, so this is really exciting for us,” said Angelique Barthel, executive director of Variety of Illinois. Among other things, the group provides mobility equipment to special-needs children.

    COD News Bureau College of DuPage will host “Chap Chats” sessions from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, July 23 and Aug. 6. College of DuPage offers a broad range of programs and resources to adult learners who are interested in professional and personal development and life enhancement. These free online chat sessions are geared toward the particular needs and questions of adult students. During the chats, representatives from the College’s Adult Admissions department will provide information and answer questions about educational opportunities, how to get started at COD, and any other topic that will contribute to their success while attending the College.
