Warren Township High School District 121 named Assistant Superintendent Mary Perry-Bates as interim superintendent. Perry-Bates is filling a void that was left by Jeff Brierton, principal of the O'Plaine Road campus, who was expected to fill the position but withdrew two weeks ago. Superintendent Phil Sobocinski said Perry-Bates, who has served alongside of him for nine years will make a great temporary superintendent. "She has all the attributes every lead administrator has to have," he said.

A program that began between Gurnee-based schools and businesses has launched it sixth year. Designed for eighth-graders, the Business and Education Partners Program is hosting the “Taste of College.” The idea is to provide students with an opportunity to take classes and be exposed to area colleges in Lake County.
