    A Huntley letter to the editor: Can we assume that only unskilled Russian boons fired the missile? Do average goons have the skill to fire these missiles? I will bet they don’t. I will bet it was Russian special forces that were sent to stir up trouble in the Ukraine, and as soon as they have added the territory in the north and east, they will move on to another of the old Soviet satellite states and do the same thing.

    McHenry County Department of Health will offer a cholesterol screening from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Sage YMCA, 701 Manor Road, Crystal Lake. Appointments are required; call (815) 334-4851. The cost is $35. The screening requires a 12-hour fast and includes total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, triglycerides, blood pressure, heart age assessment and cardiovascular education.

The last thing the library needs is to have Republicans, who have done everything possible to discredit the president, controlling its funding, location, size or content.

The challenge will begin at Riverfront Park, and competitors will race down the Fox River in two separate timed events. Prizes will be given out to the winners in each division.

    Algonquin residents will come together this weekend to commemorate the town’s founding fathers in a festival of food, activities and live entertainment. The independent Algonquin Founders’ Days festival began in 1960, when business owners and community leaders wanted to celebrate their community, said festival board secretary Sue Bazdor.
