    On March 3, Express Baseball Club, along with Pizzeria Neo in St. Charles and Naperville, were honored to be chosen as the organizations to feed the many families at the new Ronald McDonald House in Winfield. The team offered a full-course homemade Italian menu for all the parents, children and staff currently residing at the “House.”

    Side Street Studio Arts in downtown Elgin, in partnership with Canadian-based Ultimate Painting, will kick off a series of monthly painting competitions starting Friday, March 13 running through June 5. Ultimate Painting is an international tournament, where artists create the best work they can in 20-minute rounds of live painting. The audience votes for their favorites and the champions move on. Twelve area artists have applied and been selected.

Such was the case with many women in the 20th century who kicked down all kinds of doors — political, racial, financial, and so on. St. Charles resident Kay Catlin has started an autograph collection to honor those who had made significant contribution in a variety of fields. The overriding goal was to have a permanent, visual reminder she could hand down to her daughters and granddaughters.
