A Des Plaines man was charged with home invasion and aggravated domestic battery Tuesday after authorities say he went into his ex-girlfriend's unlocked Rolling Meadows apartment while she was sleeping and attacked her.

$17,000 in cash, jewelry reported stolen in Des Plaines burglary

Des Plaines police are investigating a residential burglary Saturday in which the homeowner reported that more than $8,000 in jewelry and another $9,000 in cash was stolen.

Donna McAllister, the longest serving city clerk in Des Plaines history, died Friday. She was 88. At a ceremony honoring her in 2007, then-Mayor Tony Arredia called her the "secretary to the city."
