The communities, including Bensenville, Itasca and Wood Dale, are acting to place advisory questions on the Nov. 4 ballot about the level of noise at O'Hare.

    Once a year Wood Dale teacher's aide Penny Kadlec cooks a full meal for 10 people who outbid the competition at a school fundraiser. Cooking daily for her family of six keeps her in practice for that special meal. “There is a ton of people who look at you and respect you as a teacher, and then you’re serving them food,” she said. “But it’s really fun to be able to do that and get to know them as people versus just parents of kids at school. It’s a nice experience.”

    North Shore Rhythmics gymnasts Laura Zeng of Libertyville and Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park became the 2014 junior and senior national champions in mid-July at the National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

     
  • AAR says air carrier deal means up to 175 jobs Jul 28, 2014 7:43 AM
    Wood Dale-based AAR Corp. says its Lake Charles Louisiana aircraft maintenance shop has signed with a major carrier and will begin employing up to 175 mechanics within the next two months. Technical services vice president Danny Martinez said he cannot release the customer’s name but it’s a top-tier company. About 70 AAR mechanics returned last week to Chennault International Airport.
