Not to mention she made an impact every season.That's why Keller is the 2013 Cook County Daily Herald Female Athlete of the Year.

    St. Viator boys volleyball coach Chris Boylan gave setter Brennan Harrington one of the best compliments you can give a high school athlete. "Brennan," said Boylan, "has helped change the culture of our program. "He's just a class athlete. I respect everything he's about and am extremely proud of the way he has represented himself, his teammates, his family, his school and the community." Boylan and the senior's teammates had a lot to be happy about in 2013, as the Lions roared to their best season ever with a 24-8 overall mark. Harrington was a big part of the success in earning team captaincy honors for the Northwest all-area team.

  • Downers Grove South defeats Neuqua Valley May 28, 2013 12:00 AM
    There’s no mystery to the Downers Grove South volleyball team’s success this year. The Mustangs are just playing their game and not worrying about the other side of the net. On Tuesday the Mustangs (27-10) rebounded from a first-set loss and defeated Neuqua Valley 24-26, 25-21, 25-22 to win the Proviso West sectional and move on to the Elite Eight at the state tournament Friday at Hoffman Estates.

  • Turner times it right as VH tops BG May 24, 2013 12:00 AM
    Vernon Hills had to scratch and claw before coming away with a dramatic 32-30 win over Buffalo Grove in the decisive game three on boys volleyball sectional semifinal Friday at Antioch. It was the second win in a row for the comeback Cougars, who lost the first game, 21-25 but then won the second game 25-21. Vernon Hills, seeded fourth in the sectional and now 32-6, will return to Antioch to face No. 2 Deerfield at 7 p.m. on Tuesday for the sectional championship.
