The final piece of the roughly $800,000 puzzle came from the Vernon Hills Park District, which has pledged $100,000 toward the project in exchange for reserved time on the field.

Deal close for artificial turf funding at Vernon Hills High Jan 23, 2012 12:00 AM
Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 officials are close to inking a deal that would bring artificial turf to the Vernon Hills High School football field. The Vernon Hills Park District board has approved an intergovernmental agreement with the District 128 board that calls for the park district to donate $100,000 to the project.

Three public service announcement videos about the danger of unsecured soccer goals have been released by the Chicago law firm Corboy and Demetrio. The videos, made for television and the Internet, were released in partnership with Anchored for Safety, a nonprofit group started by the family of 6-year-old Zachary Tran of Vernon Hills, who died in 2003 when an unsecured soccer goal fell on him.
