Write-ins join Schaumburg Township race Mar 4, 2013 12:00 AM
Three write-in candidates have filed for Schaumburg Township offices in the April 9 election. Rezwanul Haque will challenge incumbent Mary Wroblewski for township supervisor, Nafees Rehman will challenge incumbent Timothy Heneghan for clerk, and Moe Patel will seek a trustee seat against a Republican slate that consists of incumbents Robert Vinnedge, Jeffery Mytych, Diane Dunham and newcomer Nimish Jani.

Grafton Township will have a new supervisor in May. One-term incumbent Linda Moore lost Tuesday's Republican primary to Pam Fender, a two-term Huntley trustee. That means Fender will represent the party in the consolidated election in the spring, instead of Moore. Reading from a prepared statement, Moore said she was disappointed with the results but thankful to all of her volunteers and supporters.

Langlotz-Johnson slate pulls off near sweep in Palatine Twp.Feb 26, 2013 12:00 AM
The majority of voters agreed that the Doing Things Better for Palatine Township slate of candidates will do just that. With all 69 precincts reporting, unofficial results in the Republican primary show Sharon Langlotz-Johnson received 52 percent of the vote over two-term Supervisor Linda Fleming. Five of the Doing Things Better group's six candidates also won.

Cook County Clerk David Orr issued a statement Monday stating a campaign flier distributed by a slate of Palatine Township candidates “inappropriately” uses his name, title and logo. Orr said the flier might give the false impression that he endorses the slate.

A Cook County judge Thursday upheld the majority ruling of the Schaumburg Township electoral board removing four Democratic candidates from the April 9 ballot. But onetime township trustee candidates Mike Murray, Carolyn A. Quinn, Zuhair Nubani and highway commissioner candidate Michael Lenehan are considering whether to take their case to a state appellate court.
