With the level of talent on the Streamwood girls basketball roster it was only a matter of time before the Sabres broke into the win column. That time finally came on Wednesday night and if the second half scoring explosion in the Sabres’ 47-38 win over Jacobs at Huntley is any indication there should be plenty more wins to come.

Nobody has ever done that in Bartlett girls swimming.” Bartlett-Streamwood has four swimmers competing in 5 events Friday. That quartet includes senior newcomer Kelsey Ostrowski, Filipek, junior Meagan Cummins and sophomore Brianna Cichon. Streamwood’s Allison Marsh is the alternate. There may not be a Class 3A state title coming home to Fremd to conclude its 20-win season, but senior Zach Schoffstall sure made the most of the Vikings’ third-place finish Saturday. In Fremd’s 4-0 win over Streamwood during the state boys soccer finals at Hoffman Estates High School, the midfielder’s hat trick found its way into the record books in Class 3A, as his 3 goals broke former Viking Brian Hindle’s record of 2 in the 2011 semifinals against Naperville Central.

  • Not a ‘Normal’ game for Streamwood Nov 8, 2014 12:20 AM
Defensive mistakes never really sneaked up on the Streamwood boys soccer team this season. But those miscues flared up at the absolute worst time in the Sabres’ quest for a Class 3A state championship and a squad defined by allowing 21 goals in 24 games, amassing 10 shutouts and compiling 9 wins in which they allowed just 1 goal in each, met its offensive match Friday. The undefeated, offensive juggernaut from downstate Illinois, Normal Community, was every bit as advertised and the Ironmen, who were bigger, taller, stronger and more physical, cruised to their first state final berth with a 4-0 win over the Sabres at Hoffman Estates High School.
