    With the first day of spring passing, and the last remnants of winter slowly melting away, all of the Upstate Eight Conference boys track teams were gathered in the field house at Batavia to celebrate the end of the indoor season in style. Finishing with a total of 117 points, Neuqua Valley was able to dominate the rest of the conference and win the 2014 UEC Indoor meet, winning six of the 15 events held and losing out on a seventh win by 1/10th of a second. Waubonsie Valley, host Batavia, St. Charles North and Geneva rounded out the top five.

    Area boys basketball fans had plenty to cheer about this season. Geneva (25-6), West Aurora (24-5), Kaneland (18-10), St. Charles East (18-12) and St. Charles North (16-10) combined for a 101-43 record (.701 winning percentage) and 3 regional championships. Led by Nate Navigato and Chris Parrilli, the Vikings were the epitome of true team basketball as they captured their first regional title since 1963 with a come-from-behind 66-63 victory over Bolingbrook.
