    The Lake Barrington board of trustees approved a plan Tuesday to incentivize the construction of a Speedway gas station in the village by sharing some of the new sales tax revenue the station will generate over the next 15 years with Speedway. “What I can't stress enough is the need for us to stay competitive and make sure our tools to stay competitive are current,” Lake Barrington Village President Kevin Richardson said after the meeting.

    A small housing development near Wheaton North High School was given the go-ahead Monday by the Wheaton city council, despite concerns from residents about flooding and traffic. The council unanimously approved an amendment to the city’s zoning map and an annexation agreement for 4½ acres near 0N675 Morse St. Oak Creek Capital Partners, LLC plans to build 11 homes on the property, with lot sizes that range from about 7,500 square feet to 9,000 square feet.

    Aurelio's Pizza, a South and West suburban staple, will open its first Northwest suburban location in Arlington Heights early next year. A plan to build the restaurant at 2944 W. Euclid Ave. received approval from the Arlington Heights village board on Monday, and owner George Vassos said he hopes to open in mid-March 2015.

    Buffalo Grove trustees delayed a decision Monday on whether to ask village voters to weigh in on a proposal for a massive “downtown” development on the present municipal campus and Buffalo Grove Golf Club. Trustees seeking the delay, along with Village President Jeffrey Braiman, said they were uncomfortable putting the issue to voters with an April 7 referendum without first settling on a resolution outlining the measure and obtaining a legal opinion on whether it should be a binding or advisory referendum.
