    Adjunct professors at the College of DuPage are set to receive salary increases as part of a two-year contract extension approved Thursday by the college’s board of trustees. College officials offered the contract extension to adjuncts as a package along with a plan to create a new “lecturer” position that would allow some adjuncts to receive health care benefits under the new federal health care law.

    Freshmen aren't necessarily expected to come up with the biggest play in a soccer match, let alone with a regional title on the line. Don't tell that to Waubonsie Valley freshman Paige Filipek. Filipek followed her penalty kick, which was rejected initially by Metea Valley goalkeeper Megan Geldernick, for a rebound tally with 32:14 remaining to lift the Warriors to a 1-0 victory over the Mustangs in Friday's Class 3A Metea Valley regional championship.

Dalan fell and dropped the baton as she approached Majer for the handoff, and had to retrieve it while Majer waited in her lane.

    Waubonsee Community College is selling its former downtown Aurora campus for $1.5 million to a firm interested in turning the two buildings into stores and apartments. The college board approved the sale Wednesday night to Gorman and Co. It expects to close the sale in January.

    Lake Park overcomes lull May 14, 2013 12:00 AM
    Lake Park got off to a fast start in all three sets in volleyball Tuesday against conference rival and host Waubonsie Valley. Then the Warriors battled back into contention three times, but the Lancers held them off in two of the three sets for a 25-21, 22-25, 25-18 victory in the Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division clash.
