    Maddy O’Donnell outlasted her opponent in three sets at No. 2 singles to help Carmel earn a 4-2 victory over Fenwick in girls tennis action on Tuesday. The Corsairs picked up straight-set wins in doubles from Michelle Kannenberg/Kathleen Felicelli (No. 1), Sarah Bowles/Megan Sullivan (No. 2) and Ruthie Firnbach/Megan Healy (No. 3) Lake Forest 7, Libertyville 0: The Wildcats’ No. 4 doubles team of Mallory Rasmussen/Arthi Sekharan lost in three sets. Grayslake North 4, Lakes 3: The Knights received doubles wins from Cayla Doyle/Rachel Crutcher (No. 1), Alex Williams/Hannah Collins (No. 2) and Lisa Szini/Caitlyn Sinclair (No. 3). Grayslake North’s Erin Hendrix won at No. 3 singles. Lakes won first and second singles with Stephanie Lass and Haley Fischer, respectively. Lass outlasted Nathalia Moran 6-3, 7-5. “Stephanie played a great game,” Eagles coach Bryan Plinske said. “She combined power with angles. Stephanie tried to make Nathalia move for every shot. Stephanie would play with consistency until she found an opening and then unleash. Her serves were also a big weapon in the match.” Fischer beat Kaitlyn Christiansen 6-2, 7-6. “Haley used spin and her drop shot to keep Kaithlyn off balance,” Plinske said. “Haley would draw Kaitlyn up to the net and hit an offensive lob or blast a groundstroke to the backhand side.” Lake Zurich 7, Zion-Benton 0: The Bears lost only six games. Lake Zurich (5-3, 2-1 NSC Lake) got 6-0, 6-0 wins from Arianna Soheil (No. 2 singles), Mi Jin Han/Stephanie Johnson (No. 3 doubles) and Hannah Brodner/Rachael Repplinger (No. 4 doubles). Wauconda 6, Round Lake 1: Round Lake’s lone win came from Daniela Aviles, who defeated Kasey Cabanban 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Wauconda’s Maddy Kleiner (No. 2) won in three sets at No. 2. Wauconda swept all four doubles matches. Ally Kleiner/Jenna Heck won at No. 1, while Alex O’Day/Danielle Sturm didn’t lose a game at No. 2.

    A former Lake Forest High School employee pleaded not guilty Thursday to multiple sex-related charges stemming from a relationship with two underage female students. Benjamin Davidson, 30, of the 400 block of Exeter Place in Lake Forest, faces 18 total charges dating from December 2010 to January 2013, authorities said in Lake County court.

    A former theater manager at Lake Forest High School was arrested Friday on charges of having inappropriate relationships of a sexual nature with two female students. Benjamin M. Davidson, of North Chicago, is is charged with criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and child pornography.

    Lake Forest wrapped up the team title in the boys tennis sectional hosted by Warren on Saturday, and the Blue Devils finished a strong second. Scouts junior Peter Tarwid took the singles championship over senior Kristiyan Trukov over Warren by default as Lake Forest finished with 35 points and Warren 25. Grayslake Central and Grayslake North tied for third at 12. Sophomore Brice Polender of Lake Forest topped Antioch freshman Braden Ward in the third-place singles match 6-0, 6-0.

    Andrew Cole got a hand on the puck, just not enough. The puck slipped past Cole, crossed the goal line, thus ending the storybook season for the BG/H/W Stampede, a mix of players from Buffalo Grove, Hersey and Wheeling. Rockford defeated the Stampede 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in the Combined Division championship game at the United Center.
