Though the impact of new federal health care guidelines remains unclear, College of DuPage officials say they're planning to provide benefits to some part-time professors. The college will create the new position of "lecturer" — a nontenured adjunct faculty member who will teach more classes than the average adjunct professor, but still fewer classes than a full-time professor. The new designation would allow lecturers to be eligible for health care insurance, officials said.

District 10 program cuts likely despite parent donations May 9, 2013 12:00 AM
Itasca Elementary District 10 officials are pursuing plans to eliminate some middle school programs next year, despite tens of thousands of dollars in community donations and a much lower-than-expected budget deficit for this year. The tentative decision to cut seventh-grade Spanish, family and consumer science and a media center director at F.E. Peacock Middle School came Wednesday night during a marathon school board meeting. A final vote still must be taken to make the changes official.
