  • Review court fees to increase Dec 9, 2014 8:50 PM
    For the first time in nearly 60 years, filing fees for reviewing courts in Illinois will increase effective Jan. 1. Petitioners and appellants filing cases in the Supreme and Appellate courts will pay $50 to file instead of $25.

     
  • Autopsy set for ISU student found in dorm room Nov 17, 2014 9:34 AM
    An autopsy is scheduled later this morning for an Illinois State University student found dead in his dorm room. In a news release, McLean County Chief Deputy Coroner Seth Reynolds says the male student from Bartonville was found unresponsive by campus police late Saturday afternoon. Family members had requested a check on his well-being.

     
  • Three lanes of Addams Tollway opening Oct 29, 2014 10:29 AM
    The Illinois Tollway is opening three lanes of roadway in each direction between Rockford and Elgin as part of a $2.5 billion rebuilding project. Gov. Pat Quinn announced the development Tuesday. Officials say the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway — also known as Interstate 90 — will be a state-of-the-art road from Interstate 294 to Interstate 39.

  • Elgin rooftop burglar gets probation, restitution Sep 22, 2013 4:16 PM
    An Elgin teen accused of entering through a roof vent to steal $1,200 and steaks from an Elgin grocery store, as well as burglarizing the city’s American Legion Post, has avoided prison under a plea deal. But Isaac Aguirre, 18, must pay $2,985 restitution to Armando’s Supermarket and the Elgin American Legion Post 57, and is banned from both locations.

    Former White House chief of staff Bill Daley says he's seriously thinking about running for Illinois governor. The brother of former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley spoke Thursday before the civic group City Club of Chicago. In his speech he talked about leadership and his father, former Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley. Bill Daley also talked about Illinois' fiscal problems including the roughly $95 billion in unfunded pension liability.
