Toews: We’ve got to be ready to bring our best May 13, 2013 12:00 AM
In theory, a Tuesday night opener would have given the Blackhawks a bit of an advantage because the Red Wings would be coming in from California after Sunday's late-night clincher in what was a grueling series while a well-rested Hawks team would be waiting to pounce. Well, all that went out the window Monday morning when the league announced the series opener between the two storied rivals would commence Wednesday night instead.

Can Hawks stop Datsyuk, Zetterberg?May 13, 2013 12:00 AM
To beat the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference semifinals, the Blackhawks must find a way to shut down Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Hawks forward Marian Hossa says Datsyuk is as dangerous as they come in the NHL. "He's one of the biggest talents I ever played with," Hossa said. "We have to be careful when he's on the ice because he can make the difference."

It’s time for Blackhawks to take it to next level May 12, 2013 12:00 AM
The Blackhawks weren't at their best in dispatching the Minnesota Wild in the first round, and they know it. The Hawks better be ready to elevate their game in the second round or the dream of a second Stanley Cup in four years will come to an end. Everything gets harder from here.

Quenneville sends clear message to Saad, Stalberg May 11, 2013 12:00 AM
Brandon Saad and Viktor Stalberg had white practice jerseys hanging in their locker stalls when they arrived at the rink that meant they would be skating with the extras. Blackhawks’ defense will be tested in next round May 11, 2013 12:00 AM
Whether it's San Jose or Detroit facing the Blackhawks in the second round, there will be a difficult matchup waiting for the shutdown defense pair of Duncan Keith and Niklas Hjalmarsson. "I think at the end of the day you have to play them the same way no matter who it is," Keith said. "All good players like to have time and space with the puck, so just being on them quickly and not giving them time and space is key."

Loud and proud, Hawks fans send a messageMay 11, 2013 12:00 AM
If there is a fan base in North America so fervent or ubiquitous, it can be no better than tied for first with the ladies and gentlemen and children who follow the Blackhawks wherever they go. When Rocky Wirtz took over as chairman of this franchise in 2007, it was assumed that the process of reviving interest in the Blackhawks and retrieving lost generations of fans would be gradual, maybe difficult. Instead, the sleeping giant of the NHL has risen as hoped, because the Blackhawks are as endemic to this city's winters as shivering and shoveling.

Hawks still await second-round foe May 10, 2013 12:00 AM
The Blackhawks will have to wait until Sunday to find out their opponent in the second round. With host Detroit getting a goal early overtime from Henrik Zetterberg on Friday to beat the Ducks 4-3 in Game 6 of that series, it sets up a seventh and deciding game Sunday night in Anaheim. If Detroit wins, the top-seeded Hawks get the seventh-seeded Red Wings in the second round. If Anaheim wins, it would set up a second-round meeting between the Hawks and No. 6 seed San Jose.
