York back in familiar spot; Glenbard West fourth in Silver May 11, 2013 12:00 AM
This is the York track program coach Stan Reddel knows. Entering the outdoor season he recalled the 2012 campaign when the Dukes lost the West Suburban Conference Silver indoor meet and were unable to rally to win outdoors. "That's not our tradition," the hall of fame veteran said at the time. The Dukes regained form Saturday at the WSC Silver meet at Concordia University in River Forest. Bounding back since its indoor loss in March, York's 162 points outranked Lyons Twp. (141), Oak Park (90), Glenbard West (66), Downers Grove North (56) and Hinsdale Central (42). Proviso West scored 1 point.

Hinsdale Central produces at Pitchford Apr 27, 2013 12:00 AM
If you're looking for the early favorite to lift the state championship trophy next month, look no further than Hinsdale Central. The reigning tournament champs won all four flights at singles and doubles and captured a perfect 80 points to run away from the 32-team field at the prestigious Tom Pitchford 32 hosted by Hersey. Lake Forest (50) and Stevenson (44), both without key players in its lineup, finished second and third, while Deerfield and New Trier tied for fourth overall with 43 points. A strong showing on the second day of play helped Barrington earn 10th place after scoring 29 points over the weekend.

Big meet, big results Apr 26, 2013 12:00 AM
Possibly the only thing more impressive than Wheaton Warrenville South's team victory at the 36th annual Tiger Invitational on Friday was Glenbard West junior Madeline Perez's time in the 3,200-meter run. The Tigers won their own girls track meet for a third consecutive year, racking up 130.5 points to easily defeat second-place St. Ignatius, which scored 63. "It was real exciting," said Tigers senior co-captain Jessica Spera. "Our team, we push each other really hard in practices. We just come out here and each do our best, so it's really awesome." "It's a fun meet, and for us to do as well as we did with the quality of the teams, I mean St. Ignatius, nobody knows about a St. Ignatius," said Tigers coach Rob Harvey. "They're unbelievable. Glenbard West is a great team."

Glenbard West reigns Apr 20, 2013 12:00 AM
Emma Gambol was not about to leave Benedictine University with three runner-up performances Saturday afternoon in Lisle. The Glenbard West sophomore, after razor-thin defeats in the 100-meter dash and 300 hurdles, not to mention a third-place finish in the triple jump, had a comfortable lead on the anchor leg of the 1,600 relay. Gambol proceeded to lengthen the Hilltoppers’ lead over Whitney Young to cement their third consecutive team championship of the Sue Pariseau girls track and field invitational. Gambol, with support from Emma Reifel, Mary Nevins and Emma Winans, catapulted the Hilltoppers’ quartet to victory in 4:03.19 as the last event of the 15-team invitational was emblematic of the final team score.
