It will be déjà vu in Grayslake High School District 127 as voters re-elected two incumbents and voted a former board member back into office. With all 40 precincts reporting plus mail-in and early voting ballots, unofficial results show incumbents Russell Chamberlin and Suzanne Swanson and former board member Douglas Nerge won the race for three 4-year seats.

Area schools spend $574,197 during weekend in city Feb 6, 2013 12:00 AM
It cost suburban taxpayers $574,197.48 to send 735 school board members and district administrators back to the classroom. The price tag for a weekend-long conference last November includes rooms at downtown Chicago hotels and many free meals, but the heftiest portion of the tab comes from the nearly $300,000 spent on registration fees for seminars, workshops and classes.

A woman killed in what's believed to have been a murder-suicide in a Las Vegas hotel lobby was a Grayslake High School graduate, officials confirmed today. Jessica Kenny, 30, died from multiple gunshot wounds to her head and chest last week from what's tentatively classified as a homicide, said Clark County Coroner P. Michael Murphy.

Some local business owners who remain concerned about escalating property taxes plan to address the subject at a Grayslake High School District 127 meeting Thursday night. They expressed the same concern at a Grayslake Elementary District 46 session in October. Larry Dyer, president of Platford Commercial Realty in Grayslake, said the business community must make its voice heard. "I guess it's got to start somewhere."
