    A private room at Cooper’s Corner in Winfield was filled Friday afternoon with guests attending a big birthday party. The celebration wasn’t just for one person though — it was for more than two dozen graduates of Glenbard West High School’s class of 1952, who are all turning, or have already turned, 80 this year. “We have a good camaraderie in our class,” said John Tobey of Lombard, one of the former Hilltoppers who helped organize the event. “It’s neat to keep up with their goings and their comings.”

At Friday’s Class 3A Lake Park boys sectional in Roselle, Jegede was on a crash diet of one jump per event to save a testy hamstring that had allowed him to long jump at only two meets this spring, and no triple jumps.
