With Abello out, pressure on Benet May 6, 2013 12:00 AM
Benet is about to play a game of musical chairs no softball team wishes for. A trainer on site thought the wrist could be broken, but X-rays that evening came back negative. Abello will likely go for an MRI Tuesday.

New guy, old result for Lake Park Apr 27, 2013 12:00 AM
Just what Lake Park needs. Another guy. On the biggest stage of his outdoor track season thus far, Lancers first-year hurdler Antonio Shenault won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles at the 34th annual Jim Arnold Invite at Glenbard West. Shenault, a starting cornerback for the Lancers football team last fall, sliced a half-second off his prior best to beat teammate Scott Filip in the 110s at 14.50 seconds and won the 300 by more than a second at 40.25. "Last year I was just a sprinter, so I thought I'd try new things and hurdling was the first thing I tried. It clearly worked," he said

Big meet, big results Apr 26, 2013 12:00 AM
Possibly the only thing more impressive than Wheaton Warrenville South's team victory at the 36th annual Tiger Invitational on Friday was Glenbard West junior Madeline Perez's time in the 3,200-meter run. The Tigers won their own girls track meet for a third consecutive year, racking up 130.5 points to easily defeat second-place St. Ignatius, which scored 63. "It was real exciting," said Tigers senior co-captain Jessica Spera. "Our team, we push each other really hard in practices. We just come out here and each do our best, so it's really awesome." "It's a fun meet, and for us to do as well as we did with the quality of the teams, I mean St. Ignatius, nobody knows about a St. Ignatius," said Tigers coach Rob Harvey. "They're unbelievable. Glenbard West is a great team."
