The Cary Elementary District 26 school board approved two teachers for the early retirement option it had offered. The district will see about $70,000 in savings over the next two years, despite having to pay about $180,000 in penalties to the state's Teacher Retirement System.

Cary Elementary District 26 and Fox River Grove Elementary District 3 are moving ahead with plans to do a feasibility study to determine if consolidation would benefit both districts. Administrators from the two districts, which both feed into Cary-Grove High Schoo,l had wanted to complete the study before June 30 to take advantage of a reimbursement from the state. But district leaders say that deadline was unreasonable and they would rather get the best information rather than the lowest price.
