    Details surrounding the unexpected death of a Carpentersville man after a routine police traffic stop last week are still sketchy, but authorities said Monday the man had a medical condition that was not apparent. Joshua Paul, 31, died Aug. 18 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Authorities have not revealed the cause of death, and Paul’s death is being investigated by the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit.

    Joshua Paul was a "vibrant" person with a magnetic personality, friends said Sunday. "Everybody loved him," Stephanie Jaramillo said. Paul died Aug. 18 in Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where he'd been taken after being involved in a traffic stop by Carpentersville police. At the request of Carpentersville police officials, the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit is investigating Paul's death.

    A 31-year-old Carpentersville man is dead following a traffic stop by police there last Sunday. An investigation has been launched by state police at the behest of local authorities who remain tight-lipped regarding the circumstances surrounding Joshua Paul's death. Both police officers involved in the traffic stop remain on duty, village officials said.

The team, which was comprised of 40 teens and 10 adult chaperones, was the largest group to date from St. Catherine of Siena Church who have taken part in mission trips for the past 10 years.

  • East Dundee, Carpentersville continue Wal-Mart feud Aug 20, 2014 1:46 PM
    The feud over a new Wal-Mart proposed for Carpentersville continued this week when East Dundee filed a lawsuit arguing Carpentersville had withheld information in a recent Freedom of Information Act request. East Dundee, which will lose its Wal-Mart if the new one is built, argues Carpentersville did not include the retailer's application for special taxing district funding in the FOIA response. A judge will sort it all out beginning in December.
