  • Benjamin Dist. 25 approves 5-year pact with teachers May 8, 2013 12:00 AM
    A new teachers contract has been approved in Benjamin School District 25 that ties salary increases to the rate of inflation. The five-year agreement was approved unanimously this week by the school board and ratified on April 23 by a unanimous vote of the Benjamin Education Association, which represents about 70 teachers at the district's elementary school and middle school. The contract begins in August and runs through July 31, 2018.

  • Carol Stream water project starts next month Mar 6, 2012 12:00 AM
    Construction is set to begin next month on a water main extension in the southwest corner of Carol Stream that will connect a school and other properties to the villages water system. The $1.7 million project, near North Avenue and St. Charles and Fair Oaks roads, has taken almost five years to get off the ground because of delays with permitting and property acquisition.

A total of 14 people were nominated for the awards. All who are nominated in the Judge’s Recognition category receive that award. The awards have been given out since 1965.

    Most teachers in Benjamin Elementary District 25 will get 3 percent step increases next year - but no increase in base pay - under a new three-year contract. Teachers at the top of the pay scale who do not qualify for a step adjustment will get 2 percent increases for 2010-2011.
