Bartlett ‘Woofstock’ rescheduled Aug 5, 2012 12:00 AM
The Bartlett Park District's annual Woofstock event has been rescheduled for Thursday, Aug. 16, after a cancellation last month due to extreme heat. All canines and their owners are welcome to Riley's Run Park, 650 Lambert Lane, from 5 to 8 p.m. to enjoy games, contests and dog-friendly vendors.

New Bartlett water playground opens Jul 12, 2012 12:00 AM
The Bartlett Aquatic Center has opened a new spray playground that features a tipping bucket that dumps water on swimmers, two water slides and numerous spraying features.

Bartlett play auditions coming Jul 9, 2012 12:00 AM
Auditions for the Bartlett Park District family musical "Once Upon A Mattress" will be held at the Bartlett Community Center, 700 S. Bartlett Road, by appointment only from Thursday, July 26, to Saturday, July 28. Auditions begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Bartlett troupe to stage comedy ‘Heaven’ Jun 10, 2012 12:00 AM

Streamwood to hold new summer orchestra camp Apr 23, 2012 12:00 AM
Fabian Lopez believes that summer music camp is an ideal way to help music students grow and excel at their art. So much so that this Bartlett resident and former student of Dorothy Deen, the cello teacher in the Bartlett Center for the Arts, has spent several months working with the Streamwood Park District to create a four-week intensive string orchestra camp for students in grades four-eight, with sessions held from 9 to 11 a.m., June 18-June 29 and July 9-July 21.

A group that included park district directors, library directors and a police chief traveled to Livingston, Guatemala this month as part of a Rotary International trip to work at the Ak'Tenamit School.

Arts in Bartlett is pleased to sponsor a new exhibit, “Women, Strength and Beauty,” featuring Bartlett painter Trish Panopoulos. Her paintings will be displayed Tuesday, Nov. 1, to Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the village of Bartlett second floor Art Gallery, 228 Main St., in Bartlett. Panopoulos says she tries to capture the spirit of women in her artwork.

Bartlett officials got a look at plans Tuesday to greatly expand the park district’s nearly 20-year-old aquatic center. The Bartlett Park District hopes to add popular water park features, including a lazy river, drop slide, zip line and tube slides, to the Bartlett Aquatic Center, 620 W. Stearns Road.

The Bartlett village board approved renovations to Beaver Pond on Tuesday, avoiding a legal showdown with the park district but disappointing many nearby residents. Fishing piers, a pavilion, horseshoe pits, a bike path, parking spaces and portable restrooms will be added.

On July 4, over 500 plastic turtles took the plunge into the Bartlett Aquatic Center in hopes of securing a prize for their corresponding ticket holders. With a first place cash prize of $1,000 and second place at $250 as well as 54 other donated prizes there was a reason to cheer.

Bartlett Park District needs to get real May 22, 2011 12:00 AM
They’re kidding, right? The Bartlett Park District is suing the Village for failing to approve their redevelopment plan for Beaver Pond. The BPD is spending our money to sue (read: bully) the village in hope that the village either rescinds their decision or the courts find in their favor so they can gain taxpayer money from the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources.
