It hasn't been the best of weeks for Allstate Arena general manager Pat Nagle. First, he discovers the new owner of the Chicago Rush has been accused of not paying the team's bills and thus, for the second time in recent years, the team is taken over by the league — once again leaving the future of the franchise in limbo. And then it's announced Thursday that another Allstate tenant, DePaul, will soon be playing its games in a new downtown arena.

The Chicago Rush franchise has new owner. As first reported in Crain’s Chicago Business and confirmed by the Arena Football League, private-equity firm manager David Staral Jr. has agreed to buy the franchise. While league officials say the season will start as planned on March 23, it remains uncertain if the team will return to Allstate Arena, the Rush’s home in Rosemont for years. “On a scale of 1 to 10, my confidence level is about a 2 or 3,” said Pat Nagle, general manager of Allstate Arena.

And despite a promise from league officials that the season will open as scheduled on March 23, the general manager of Allstate Arena, where the Rush has played its games, is concerned about whether there is enough time to make that happen.

As expected, the Arena Football League completed the sale of the Chicago Rush franchise to a new ownernship group, officials for the AFL and Rush announced Wednesday. The transaction was completed Monday to a group led by Julee White of Testarossa Entertainment, a public relations and marketing agency based in Chicago.
