    Once Addison Trail’s once-beaten football team couldn’t do what it does best, it allowed Jordan McInerney to do what he does best. Harass the quarterback. It added up to 5 second-half sacks for Libertyville’s 6-foot-5, 210-pound defensive end. And with quarterback Riley Lees doing what he does best — zig, zag, zip, jump, shake, roll, bounce, lean and squeeze through defenders — the 11th-seeded Wildcats were on their way to securing their first state-quarterfinal appearance since they won state 10 years ago. Lees rushed 25 times for 214 yards and his 30th and 31st touchdowns of the season, and host Libertyville eliminated No. 3 Addison Trail 17-7 in a Class 7A second-round playoff game Saturday.

    Addison Trail senior football player Bobby Rinaldi takes his important but slightly unusual two-way role in stride. “Coach is always giving me (a hard time), like (playing both) nose guard and kicker — that's the best nose guard/kicker ever,” Rinaldi said. “They always make fun of me, trust me.” On Saturday night Rinaldi used his abilities to help the Blazers defeat visiting Lake Zurich 7-3 in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs for their first playoff victory since 2004.

Hundley rushed for 301 yards in helping the Blazers beat Willowbrook to clinch an outright conference championship in the West Suburban Gold, while Maxwell had 3 interceptions (along with 3 receiving touchdowns) to help the Eagles top Leo and gain a playoff berth.

    More than 100 people who support this season's “The Biggest Loser” contestant Toma Dobrosavljevic will gather at Addison Trail High School Thursday night for a group photo followed by a viewing of the NBC weight loss competition show. Dobrosavljevic, 33, a former Addison Trail athlete who now lives in Bloomingdale, has developed a cult following since first appearing on the show last month. His fans call themselves #TeamToma

Next up for the No. 5-seeded Mustangs (10-7-2) will be No. 4 St. Charles North in the regional final at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

    In four of the last six football seasons, Glenbard West finished the regular season with a perfect record. The Hilltoppers took a huge step in making it five of seven on Saturday. In a showdown between unbeaten leaders from the West Suburban Conference Silver and Gold divisions, Glenbard West knocked off visiting Addison Trail 33-15 at Glen Ellyn’s Duchon Field.
