Bolingbrook teen receives top honors in Chicago ballet competition

On Oct. 14, the Carey Rose Winski Memorial Foundation dance scholarship competition was held at Hubbard Street Dance in Chicago.

Ballet students, age 13-18, competed from all over the country for a chance of winning a scholarship award to continue their ballet training at their school of choice.

Elisabeth Rose Welsh, 14, of Bolingbrook, was awarded first place receiving a $1,000 scholarship. Elisabeth trains 5-6 days at week at Faubourg Ballet Theatre in Hanover Park, under the direction of Watmora Casey.

The school welcomes dancers of all levels, primarily focusing on a pre-professional classical ballet program. She plans to use her scholarship towards her tuition at Faubourg Theatre.

Elisabeth has been dancing since the age of 2 and hopes to become a professional ballet dancer someday.
