Mundelein police to host Cops 'N' Bobbers Fishing Derby

Daily Herald reports

The Mundelein Police Department's 21st Annual Cops 'N' Bobbers fishing derby will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 14, at the Mundelein Seminary, 1000 E. Maple Ave.

Parents are invited to bring children ages 5-13 to spend the morning fishing and interacting with Mundelein police.

The lake on the seminary property will be stocked with sun fish. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will have a few poles on hand for those who do not have their own. A limited amount of bait will be provided; participants are encouraged to bring their own. Children younger than 16 are not required to have a fishing license; adults will need a license if they are fishing but may assist their child without one. An adult must accompany all participants.

The event is free and the first 100 children will get a free T-shirt. There will be prizes for the biggest, smallest and most fish caught, and a raffle.

Food and nonalcoholic beverages are allowed in the seminary, so feel free to bring a picnic lunch.
