Geneva History Museum to offer watercolor notecards for membership

The Geneva History Museum, 113 S. Third St., is celebrating "May is Membership Month." Anyone who renews or becomes a museum member anytime during May will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift certificate to the museum. The certificate can be used in the gift shop, for research fees, or for registration to museum programs and events.

Annual membership to the Geneva History Museum is $35, $50 per household, or $25 for seniors. It offers benefits such as free admission, a discount in the gift shop, reduced fees for research, programs and event, and reciprocal benefits from hundreds of museums across the county.

Those who wish to increase their membership and make a $100 or more donation in May will receive a complimentary membership, recognition on the museum's lobby wall, entry in the gift certificate drawing, and notecards of a watercolor rendering of 7 S. Third St., exclusively commissioned by the Geneva History Museum from Geneva artist Dennis Gramlich.

The museum will celebrate the 100th birthday of the buildings at 17 and 21 S. Third St. that were built in 1918 as Tri-City Garage to serve motorists on the Lincoln Highway.

The birthday party will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 19, with photographic displays of the building, cupcakes, lemonade and coffee served at the museum. Self-guided tour booklets of the former Tri-City Garage will be available to pick up at the museum and guided tours will be offered each half-hour at 10:30, 11 and 11:30 a.m.

Behind-the-scenes tours of the museum's archives and collections also will be offered at those times. Reservations are not required to attend the party and take the tours. Attendees may renew or become a museum member at this event.

The Geneva History Museum is celebrating its 75th anniversary as a nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve and share Geneva's evolving story while inspiring and engaging the community. Memberships can be made at GenevaHistoryMuseum.org or by calling (630) 232-4951.
