Élan Dance Company to present showcase at Pfeiffer Hall April 20

The Naperville Park District's Élan Dance Company will present its 2018 Showcase at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. on the campus of North Central College.

Performances will feature original choreography in a variety of genres, including ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, tap and lyrical. Some of the musical selections are: "It's a Hard-Knocked Life" from the musical, Annie, "River Deep, Mountain High" by Celine Dion, and "That's Amore." Performers include ensembles from each of the three companies within Élan, which are the Senior, Apprentice and Junior Companies.

Elan Dance Company provides advanced students with opportunities to learn the art of choreography. The 2018 Showcase will include two student pieces. Alyssa Wolff choreographed a piece which will be performed by Senior Company entitled, "Move Your Body."

Sarah Fournier and Izzy LaFlamme choreographed a piece entitled, "Symphony" which will be performed by Apprentice Company.

Now in its 22nd season, Élan Dance Company s a pre-professional dance company for students ages 9 and older, performing in Naperville and in the Chicago region.

The company makes high quality, creative dance experiences affordable and accessible both to audiences and to its members. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency and by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Jackson Avenue, Fort Hill Activity Center at 20 Fort Hill Drive or at the 95th Street Center at 2244 W. 95th St.

Tickets are $8 in advance (through April 19 at 3 p.m.) or $10 at the door.
