St. Charles East McTeachers have a 'Big Heart for Becky'

It was a great night for Team Becky at the St. Charles McDonald's on West Main when teachers and the community came out to support the Carlson family. Becky Carlson, a former student of St. Charles East High School, was feeling the love. In the fall of 2017, she had a heart and kidney transplant. The St. Charles East community came together Feb. 27 at the McDonald's to raise funds for her mounting medical bills.

A teacher band featuring Jon Kittl, Neal Anderson and retired administrator Bob Abraham performed for the entire three hours. The music was enjoyed by everyone. There was also a special appearance by school mascot King Charles. King Charles took lots of pictures with students and families.

Assistant Principal-Student Life Lisa Dandre offered an incentive to kids that came to sing the school song and she bought them a cheeseburger. There were many very amusing renditions of the school song and it was a very entertaining night.

Becky's mother and brother were both in attendance. Becky's younger brother is a senior at the school and will be following in the footsteps of his older brother and entering the Marine Corps upon graduation.

All the kids in attendance signed a giant card for Becky. It was a spectacular night for Team Becky. The McTeacher's Night was courtesy of the St. Charles McDonald's owners, the Lardas family. Please like their Facebook page.

Thank you to Lisa Dandre, who organized the entire event and the 31 teachers from the school that worked at the fundraiser.
