Cowlishaw Elementary School hosts McTeacher's Night in Aurora

Cowlishaw Elementary School in Naperville held its first McTeacher's Night at the Aurora McDonald's on Fox Valley Drive on Thursday, Feb. 15.

A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Thursday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Cowlishaw Elementary School PTA. The students and families were excited to see their teachers behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Sixteen teachers and staff members worked from the elementary school. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Cowlishaw Elementary teachers Kerry Kearley and Liliana Kaspari each took a turn in the pie costume and had a blast walking around the restaurant selling fresh hot apple pies for donations along with pie helpers Sarah Maldonado and Peggy Harry.

A special thank you goes to PTA board member Julie Sterzinger who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Cowlishaw Elementary teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

The PTA plans to use the money raised for buses for field trips, assemblies, and classroom supplies for teachers.
