Highland Park Players' Theater For Young Audiences presents 'Busytown, The Musical'

Highland Park Players Theater for Young Audiences will perform "Busytown, the Musical," based on the books by Richard Scarry. "Busytown, the Musical" will run Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 10, 11 and Feb. 17 and 18 at Elm Place Middle School, 2031 Sheridan Road, Highland Park. Performances are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

"It is bright, funny, fast paced, has wonderful dance and music, and the characters are animals," Director and Highland Park resident Debra Goldman said. "Come join us and see what makes Busytown so busy."

Busytown is always buzzing with activity. Huckle Cat will take audiences on a tour of his great neighborhood, with so much to see and do, and many wonderful friends to visit.

The production stars Al Katz-Mariani as Huckle Cat and Heidi Hansfield as Betsy Bear. Also in the production is Brian Herrle as Sergeant Murphy, Bob Spidale as Farmer Alfalfa/Train the Dog, Aimee Kleiman as Grocer Mom Cat, Toni Mansfield as Tailor Stitches/Jason the Mason, Sammi Gassel as Blacksmith Fox, Dave Lemrise as Construction Worker/Salty the Pirate, Sarah Makkawy as Dig Pig/Letter Carrier, Elise Lipezker as Sawdust, Christina Melgar as Lowly Worm, Katy Mitchell as Postal worker/Humperdink, Naomi Hershman as Nurse/Grandma Bear, Molly Jacobson as Firechief, Sabra Gerber as Able Baker Charlie, and Susie Perkowitz as Dr. Lion.

The creative team includes Jamie Davidson (Producer), Debbie Goldman (Director), Aaron Kaplan (Music Director), Cathy Jacobson (Choreographer), Live Music by JAM (Justin Kono, Aaron Kaplan, and Michael Goldman), Vicky Jablonski (Costumer), Rich Neumann (Sound Designer), Jacob Cohen (PR/Marketing), Gryffon Cloud (Stage Manager), Abra Chusid (Props Designer) and Sue Jacobson (Assistant Director).

"We are truly excited to bring the experience of live theater to young families on the North Shore," producer and Highland Park resident Jamie Davidson said. "Children will be captivated by the engaging actors and live band, and love meeting the characters afterward for autographs."
