Jefferson Middle School hosts first McTeacher's Night

Jefferson Middle School held their first McTeacher's Night at the Aurora McDonald's at Galena Plaza on Thursday, Nov. 9.

A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the nights sales to the local school.

On Thursday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Jefferson Middle School PTO. The students and families were excited to see their teachers, principal and assistant principals behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Twenty-nine teachers and staff members worked from the West Aurora Unit District 129 middle school including Principal Shawn Munos and Assistant Principals Jeff Bryant and Joe Neukirch. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume - all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Jefferson Middle School teachers Rosalba Amador and Mr. Foster had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. Shannon Korder and Joe Neukirch sold pies. They were encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie. Special performances by the choir and orchestra and the JHawks Cheerleaders were enjoyed by everyone.

A special thank you goes to assistant principal Jeff Bryant who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Jefferson Middle School teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

The Jefferson Middle School PTO plans to use the money raised to purchase Rebecca Caudill books and use the funds to support other activities for the students.
