S.O.S. Freedom Team Raises $6,000 at Marine Corps Marathon

Support Our Soldiers Freedom, Inc. (S.O.S. Freedom), a Deerfield, Ill.-based nonprofit raised $6,000 for active duty military personnel and veterans by participating in the Marine Corps Marathon, Sunday Oct. 22 in Washington, D.C.

"The S.O.S. Freedom Team trained hard for the 26.1-mile marathon while raising funds to support our military heroes," said Marilee Papale Shipman, founder. Our team members were among 30,000 participants and they joined us from all over the country."

Funds raised by S.O.S. Freedom, Inc. provide financial support for expenses not covered by military benefits including household payments, repairs and modifications; transportation and automotive repairs, complimetary and alternative medicine (CAM) and urgent and critical health care.

The organization is holding a silent auction Nov. 27-Dec. 11. Its signature fundraiser, The Essence of Freedom 5K Run, is Monday (Memorial Day), May 28, 2018 in Deerfield, Ill.
