NSDAR chapter celebrates 40th anniversary

The Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently celebrated the chapter's 40th anniversary at the Adler Park Lodge in Libertyville with a luncheon.

Organizing Regent and Honorary Illinois State Regent Gale Jones Fixmer provided the Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter members with information about the chapter's founding, including sharing pictures of the chapter's history.

In celebration of the chapter's 40th anniversary, it was presented with a parade-sized United States flag to be used by members for upcoming events.

The Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter was organized in September 1977 and named for Ansel Brainerd Cook, who was a leading figure in Libertyville in the early 1800s. Five ancestors of Cook saw service in the American Revolution. The Ansel Brainerd Cook home has been restored by the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society as a museum and a home of the Victorian period. The home is open to the public at designated times.

The Ansel Brainerd Cook NSDAR Chapter strives to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism via commemorative events, scholarships and educational initiatives, citizenship programs, service to veterans, meaningful community service and more.
