Halloween tours show dark side of Victorian society

Some of the darkest corners of Victorian society will be illuminated at the Tanner House Museum this Halloween during the dramatized tours "A Drop of Poison."

Far from the sweeping skirts, straw boaters and lighthearted croquet games seen at the Aurora Historical Society on the Fourth of July, visitors will encounter men and women caught in the snares of weakness and trouble in 1895.

Tours begin at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Oct. 27 to 29, at 304 Oak Ave., Aurora. Participants must be 14 or older.

Tickets are $15 per person, $12 for members, and places must be reserved in advance. For tickets, visit aurorahistory.net or call (630) 906-0650.
