Kids, seniors join together for Alzheimer's Walk

A Mother's Touch Creative Learning Centers, Arlington Heights, was fortunate enough to participate in The Moorings' Alzheimer's Walk Wednesday, Sept. 6.

While the kindergartners participated in the annual walk, they searched for the color purple, which is the Alzheimer awareness color.

A Mother's Touch has spent one day every month enjoying the company of the residents of The Moorings since 2010. They play board games, sing songs, garden and form connections while visiting.

Part of the mission at A Mother's Touch is to help shape the world in which our children will grow up. It is of great importance to A Mother's Touch that they teach children to promote peace and kindness toward others through awareness of self and the community.

Being able to partner with The Moorings is a piece of the intergenerational program provided at A Mother's Touch, which believes you can learn from one another at all stages of life, sharing time, acceptance, patience and compassion.

The intergenerational programs help seniors and young children build meaningful relationships in a supervised setting.
