Get your car wash at benefit for Aurora police, police dog unit

The Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of Aurora will hold a car wash fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Aurora Police Department headquarters, 1200 E. Indian Trail Road in Aurora.

The public is invited. Proceeds will benefit the Aurora Police Department and police dog unit dogs and officers.

Cost is $5 for cars and $7 for SUVs and vans.

The Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of Aurora is a nonprofit, volunteer organization governed by an executive board with established bylaws. Members make a difference in Aurora by staying active with the Aurora Police Department and by sharing the knowledge gained at the academy with fellow citizens. It graduates volunteer at civic and community activities ​ and role-play for mock crime scenarios in new officer and SWAT training exercises.

The association holds monthly membership meetings that both educate and entertain members. To complement meetings, educational activities have included tours of law enforcement related sites (Arapahoe County jail, Rocky Mountain Computer Forensics Lab), and social activities to build and renew membership acquaintances. In addition to speaker presentations and activities, the association publishes a monthly newsletter.
