Vintage Days returns to Long Grove Saturday and Sunday

Long Grove Vintage Days, a two-day street market for all things vintage, antique, reclaimed, repurposed, upcycled and handmade, is offered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 19-20, in downtown Long Grove.

The event also features live music, local street food and a variety of fine wine and beer.

More than 40 antique, vintage, upcycled/reclaimed dealers will feature their wares in the open air market, which has free admission and parking.

There will be a free ice cream social, music and games from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Long Grove Community Church. Besides the free, unlimited ice cream and dessert bars, there will be tractor tours to and from the church/cemetery and through downtown, inflatables for all ages, a dunk tank, face painting, kids games at 1 p.m. and a watermelon eating contest at 2:45 p.m.

At 12:15 p.m., blues/folk/rock group Heirs To The Kingdom will perform. At 1:15 p.m., In Motion Dancers perform. There will be a ballroom dancing demonstration by the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Long Grove at 2 p.m. Heirs to the Kingdom will perform again at 3:15 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be a Penny Carnival hosted by The Long Grove Historical Society featuring old-fashioned games for kids from noon to 2 p.m., followed by the melodrama "Polly Pureheart Prevails" at 2 p.m. at the historical society's farmhouse.

The event also will feature a Pop-Up Car Show, with reserved VIP parking for classic cars on a first-come, first-serve basis.
