Rotary Santa Run registration is now live

Sleigh bells ringing, "angels singing" and mistletoe bring smiles all around. It may be early to start your holiday shopping, but never too early to set aside some family time for Christmas merriment.

Save the date, Saturday, Dec. 2, to participate in the oldest Santa Run in the region, a 5K run/walk sponsored by the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights.

It is truly a wondrous sight at the start of the Rotary Santa Run as almost 2,000 Santas jog through downtown Arlington Heights. Five-piece Santa suits are included in your registration and are traditionally worn throughout the festivities.

This year, the Rotary is offering a race medal for all participants. The race T-shirt selection includes a long-sleeved dri-fit option, available for a donation of $20.

Register for the 10th annual Rotary Santa Run for only $35 if you register before Oct. 31. Race registration will be $40 from Nov. 1 until Dec. 1. Regular race day fee is $45. There are discounts for children younger than 13 as well: $25 until Oct. 31, $30 from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1, and $35 on race day.

Proceeds from the 2016 Rotary Santa Run are used to benefit the Arlington Heights community at large. This year, grants have been approved for the Arlington Heights Senior Center's Buddy Bench, an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator at Journey's, roof repairs at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, Sensory Room Conversion at Northwest Community Hospital, establishment of the Human Performance Project at Thomas Middle School and Hersey High School, as well as Activity/Comfort Aids for Lutheran Home's Services for the Aged.
