Aurora Public Library Teen Talent Show entrants announced

The Aurora Public Library's ninth annual Teen Talent Show and Competition, presented by the library's Teen Committee, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Copley Theatre, 8 E. Galena Blvd., in downtown Aurora. The show is free and open to the public. The performers range in age from 12 to 17 and represent five schools.

Last year's Teen Talent Show and Competition winner, Corinda Singphothignal of Aurora, will take the stage to perform during the judges' deliberations.

There are eight acts in this year's show. They are:

• Singer Barnali Behan, 15, a sophomore at Metea Valley High School;

• Singer Charlotte Evans, 14, a freshman at West Aurora High School;

• Dancer Charisma D. Farmer, 14, a freshman at West Aurora High School;

• Singer Elliot Gallegos, 14, an eighth-grader at Carmel Montessori Academy in Warrenville;

• Singer/guitarist Andrew Hasulube, 17, a senior at Aurora Christian High School;

• Singer Michelle Hess, 12, a seventh-grader at Still Middle School in Aurora;

• Singer Savannah Radcliff, 17, a junior at Metea Valley High School;

• Dance duet "Earth and Water" featuring Ruby Garcia, 17, a senior at West Aurora High School and Sasha Modisette, 16, a senior at West Aurora High School.

Emceeing the competition will be local deejay Marco Magana.

This year, Simply Destinee dancers will kick off the show and perform a second number midway through the show.

Guest judges are Tony Camardo and Huntley Brown. Camardo was a music business major in college where he played in jazz band and studied classical guitar. He then began a long career in the music industry, holding executive positions at Warner Bros., Arista Records and Sony Music where he was involved in the success of numerous artists. He retired from the music industry in 2011. He is in a trio called The Dog & Pony Show, which plays classic rock unplugged.

Brown is an international Christian concert pianist. His music ministry has taken him all over the world, with TV, radio, and concert appearances in Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, China, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Grenada, Holland, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Palestine, South Korea, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, St. Maarten, St. Vincent, Slovakia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine and Wales.

In the United States, he has performed from coast to coast at churches of every size and denomination, from the Crystal Cathedral, to Living Word Christian Center, to Willow Creek Community Church, to Big Rock Baptist Church.

One Teen Advisory Board member also will serve as a judge.

The winner will receive a Teen Talent Show trophy.
