Golf Outing raises over $57,000 for Lake County agency

Submitted by A Safe Place

A Safe Place hosted its 15th Annual "Drive Out Domestic Violence" golf outing on the fairways of Ravinia Green Country Club on Monday, June 19.

Despite the rain, 21 foursomes spent a day of golf and good company to help raise over $57,000 for domestic violence victims and their children.

For 15 years, the Drive Out Domestic Violence Golf Outing has brought together men, women, businesses and partners to support the mission of A Safe Place. With all the sponsorships, registration fees, a live auction, raffle tickets, a 50/50 raffle, mulligan purchases and donations, this year's golf outing was the organization's most successful in over seven years.

All proceeds that were raised help A Safe Place continue to provide lifesaving programs and services for the men, women, and children suffering from domestic violence; prevent future abuse by addressing its root cause through abuser intervention programs; and educate in the community about ending domestic violence. Last year, A Safe Place served over 13,000 Lake County neighbors.

This year, the golf outing comes at a time when domestic violence funding from Illinois has been eliminated, threatening the foundation of all programs and services, from the emergency shelter and court advocacy to counseling and life skills. Last year, over 500 individuals were turned away due to lack of funding.

Sponsors of the golf outing include Mercedes-Benz Autohaus, St. Charles Consulting, Paragon, Robert O. Ackley, the Goldman family, Northbrook Toyota, It's My Styl, Zurich Insurance, Paul W. Kaiser and Associates, Fidelity National Title, Ingrid Wiemer and Charlie Wilkinson, The Law Offices of Robert O. Ackley, Audi Exchange, Keystone and Rosenthal Brothers Insurance.
