Party on! 'Wayne's World' celebration continues

For the past six months, the city of Aurora has been celebrating the 25th anniversary of Wayne's World since the beginning of February and now the party comes to a close with events in June and July.

On June 28, "Wednesdays at the Plaza" hosts a special Wayne's World concert with Noah's Arcade.

The band, joined by local troubadour Kevin Trudo and led by skilled guitarist Noah Gabriel, will play some of their favorite songs from the movie as well as originals.

"Wednesdays at the Plaza" is a free, summer concert series at Millennium Plaza, 21 S. Stolp Ave., in downtown Aurora.

Concerts start at 7 p.m. and are sponsored by City of Aurora, Aurora Downtown, Downtown Auroran Magazine, Fox Valley Park District, and several local businesses.

On Tuesday, July 4, the city parade in downtown Aurora includes several nods to Wayne's World.

Aurora Downtown, an organization of business and property owners within Special Service Area #One, joins in the parade with their "Party On!" float featuring air guitar and look-alike competitors.

The grand finale of "Party On! 25 Years of Wayne's World" happens right before the fireworks at RiverEdge Park in Aurora.

The city invites spectators to head bang to "Bohemian Rhapsody" in an attempt to beat the current Guinness World Record.

Participants should wear a bandana or a flannel shirt and congregate toward the front of the stage once "Stairway to Heaven" is played. Then the Fox Valley Orchestra will perform Bohemian Rhapsody live on stage to a head banging crowd.
